UAE corporate tax registration: deadline, documents and next steps

Identify the entity, check its registration deadline and prepare a consistent EmaraTax application. Registration is separate from filing a return.

The short answer

Corporate tax registration creates the entity’s tax registration with the FTA; it does not submit its annual return. Do not use the VAT threshold, low profit or a free-zone licence as a substitute for checking corporate tax registration.

For a UAE-incorporated resident juridical person established on or after 1 March 2024, the application deadline is three months from incorporation, establishment or recognition. Different rules apply to older entities, foreign entities and natural persons. Establish the category before choosing a date.

Start with the right entity, not the trading name

Compare the licence, incorporation record and ownership documents. Identify the legal entity and its existing EmaraTax profile before creating another one. A brand may cover more than one entity; a branch is not automatically a separate taxable person.

Your situationWhat to check
New UAE-incorporated resident companyIncorporation or establishment date and the three-month application rule.
Company established before 1 March 2024Historical licence-based deadline; do not restart the clock from a renewal.
Individual conducting businessNatural-person rules, business turnover and exclusions; do not apply the company rule automatically.
Foreign entity or unusual structureResidence, effective management, permanent establishment or nexus; obtain a category-specific assessment.

Prepare a document consistency sheet

The current FTA service card identifies formation and licensing records, owner and signatory identification and proof of signatory authority. Use its current document list for your entity. The working sheet below is a preparation method, not an additional statutory form.

RecordCheck before submission
Licence and incorporation recordsNames, legal form and dates agree; include relevant branch licences.
Ownership and authorised signatoryOwnership evidence and authority to act match the application; resolve missing or expired identification.
Financial year and contact informationUse the entity’s documented financial year and a contact route the business controls.
Existing tax profile and correspondenceLocate the correct profile and prior requests so the team does not duplicate an application.

Use the official channel and keep the submission evidence

Start from the FTA’s official registration service and follow its current EmaraTax sign-in instructions. Complete the correct taxable-person profile, review the corporate tax application and submit it through the authorised route. Do not share passwords or one-time login codes with an adviser.

Keep the submitted information, acknowledgement, reference and any request for further information together. Assign someone to monitor requests and preserve the approval when issued. Preparing a draft is not evidence that the application was submitted; an acknowledgement is not an approval.

Separate the authority service from professional support

The FTA registration service is free of charge. An adviser’s document review, application preparation and coordination are professional services, not an FTA registration charge. Ask what the engagement covers and who submits and answers follow-up queries.

MERAKI’s registration assistance is separately scoped from annual accounts and return preparation. The authority decides the outcome; there is no guaranteed approval or fixed completion promise.

Corporate tax support and registration fees Build a scope estimate

If registration is late, do not confuse the next deadlines

Check the FTA’s current late-registration and waiver conditions promptly. The first-return or annual-declaration condition under the waiver initiative is distinct from the normal return deadline; do not treat relief as automatic or postpone action while asking about it.

What to bring to an introductory discussion

Use the enquiry for scope. Arrange an appropriate secure channel before sending identity documents, bank statements or tax-account records.

  • Entity type, issuing authority and incorporation date.
  • Whether a tax profile or application already exists.
  • Financial year, deadline concerns and any authority request.
  • The help needed: registration only, missing books or annual return preparation.
